The Sonata Hotel opened December 25th, 2003. It features 7 brand new, perfectly comfortable rooms. The suites and doubles have air conditioning. The main lobby area is also air conditioned. And they have a 3 table cafe/bar.
The entryway to the hotel is a communal stairwell. Usually these communal stairwells (where other Russians living in the same building use this same stairwell) are dirty and dark. But Sonata has invested money in their communal stairwell and it is clean and well-lit.
Once inside, you go upstairs and press the doorbell to be allowed entry into Sonata. And it is nice inside this mini-hotel.Outside on the ground floor is the Red Fox Jazz Club. The hotel staff says the noise does not reach the hotel. And there is also a "producti" store right there (convenience store).
This hotel belongs to the "Russian Vodka Museum." The museum is located about a 45 minute walk away from the hotel near Saint Isaac`s Cathedral.
